At AKD Furniture we have a comprehensive range of classical solid wood mahogany office furniture. There is the popular and traditional Georgian Partners Desk in several sizes with a choice of drawer, filing drawer and cupboard configuration. Or the more modern military styled Campaign Desk, again offered in choice of sizes. Most of our furniture is made to order so you have the advantage of being able to order the exact style, size and finish you desire. You can even have items bespoke made!
All our furniture is constructed from solid mahogany except where using a veneer is more sensible. Our office furniture products include Desks, Bureaus, Writing Desks, Filing Cabinets, Bookcases, Office Storage Units, and Leather Office Chairs.
Manufacture of our Mahogany Office Furniture
Our mahogany office furniture is all constructed using many of the traditional furniture making joints. These include mortise and tenon and dovetail joints for the main construction and drawers. Mitred joints are used for the corners of many of the desk tops. These techniques together with the use of exceptionally strong modern glues, result in a range of very well built and robust office furniture.
The desks, filing cabinets and matching bookcases are designed to last a life time. With just a bit of care, such as the occasional application of a good quality furniture wax, the appearance will actually improve overtime.
We offer a choice of designs such as antique reproduction as well as more contemporary designs. In addition you may send use a picture of any design you like which will be able to reproduce for you – see more details under the ‘bespoke’ menu above.
Desk and Filing Cabinet sizes
To go with the designs of desks and filing cabinets there is a variety of sizes, a choice of colour for the leather or faux leather tops plus a choice of brass or wooden handles.
The vast majority of our office furniture is made using solid mahogany but occasional and for entirely sensible reasons some panels or tops need to be constructed using plywood and mahogany veneer. This is particularly so in the ‘campaign range’ where the straight edged style means the normal ‘floating tops’ cannot be used. We do try and keep the use of veneers to a minimum and advise when it is necessary to use them. Having said that the mahogany veneer that we use is both high grade and very attractive. It should not be seen in any way as diminishing the value of the product.
