Delivery Information


During this period we need to keep both our customers and delivery staff safe. The good news is that our deliiveries services are now running normally, the only differnence being is that our drivers continue to observe the social distancing rules, as per Government guidance.

Where it applies our standard service of 2 man to room of choice is also operating as normal within Government guidance. That is use of hand gels, masks, social distancing and feet coverings where approriate. However if you have any issues or concerns about his please contact us. 




1.) Small items (£499 and below).  Why do we have a delivery fee. Our carriers (as with most carriers) charge a minimum delivery fee whatever the size of the item hence we have to pass some of this charge on. We could increase the price of the item to cover this but this would disadvantage you if you ordered several small items.

2.) Heavy items such as large bookcases, display cabinets and tables may have an additional charge. These often require extra delivery time and staff – please ask for a quote.

3.) Number of items in an order. If there are large number of items on an order (over 2cbm) this fills the van and reduces the number of deliviers it can make in a day. A charge maybe made to cover these extra costs – please ask for details.

4.) Scotland postcodes, in addition to the above (1) and (2) attract a delivery fee as listed below. Apologies to all our Scottish customers, we simply are unable to cover all the extra long distance charges. However we are really happy to look at discounts for large orders to help with delivery charges. Please also note some postcodes are on Islands which will mean ferry journeys and possible overnight stays – this will add extra charges to those quoted below.

The only other exception that might apply would be for very complex or large orders to remote postcodes or where access is particularly difficult.

Delivery Area Covered

We cover mainland UK, England, *Scotland and Wales. We do not deliver to:- Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Channel Islands etc. However you are welcome to arrange your own collection from our warehouse or we will happily deliver to an address for onward shipping by your agent. Please note that once an order is collected or we have delivered to your shipping agent we cannot be held responsible for any ongoing delays, loss or damage.

Delivery Options

PLEASE NOTE: the delivery service we have in place is not a dedicated service, that is we cannot offer specific delivery dates. Delivering custom made furniture that is generally heavy, often requires assembly and at the same time keeping costs reasonable is complex. For more details please see ‘How it Works’ further down this page.

Our Standard FREE* Delivery : 2 man service, your item(s) will be placed in a room of your choice as long as it is safe to do so, not a flat with many floors & there are no severe or unusual parking conditions. This covers all the mahogany items except the Georgian Mahogany range. Some of this range maybe a single man delivery. Unwrapping, assembly and removal of packaging is not included in this service.

Our White Glove Delivery:  this is a 2 man service which includes unwrapping and assembly of your furniture in a room of your choice plus the removal of all packaging. This service is suitable for items such as 4 poster beds or wardrobes. These are still reasonably straight forward to assemble (see assembly instructions) but if you would rather this was done for you this service is the one for you. The costs vary depending on the complexity of the item – PLEASE ASK FOR A QUOTE.

Single Man Option: basic kerbside delivery single man to a ground floor room. Smaller items will often be delivered in this way. This service relates to the NON mahogany items (except some of the Georgian range), such as oak, walnut, reclaimed items etc.

Delivery – How It Works

Once your order is ready for dispatch the delivery company will contact you direct to arrange a date and time slot. This can be either by text (preferred method), phone and or email. If you need to contact the delivery company please call us at AKD Furniture and we can supply the necessary contact details if required.

It is important you are at home to receive and sign for the delivery as most items are not suitable for ‘leaving next door or back of the shed etc’ and you maybe charged for a failed delivery which was not the fault of our carriers.

We co-operate with a specialist furniture delivery company to deliver your items and can provide you with their contact telephone numbers if required. Deliveries are arranged using the most competitive service. This means in order to arrange a run our carriers have to ensure all customers on that run on that run are at home and can accept the delivery. This is not always easy hence you might be offered a slot with only 24hrs notice but we endevour to give at least 48 hrs notice. You can of course refuse the slot.

This is not a dedicated delivery service so unfortunately cannot offer specific delivery dates however we try to mitigate this by delivering early mornings and late evenings. There is normally a delivery in your area once a week or more remote areas fortnightly however delivering custom made furniture  nationally is complex and we cannot guarantee delivery times but will always endeavour to delivery as quickly as possible.

Delivery is often included for orders over a certain amount, for single small items small delivery fee is charged to help cover the costs. This will vary depending on number of items and your location. We are happy to obtain quotes on your behalf.

Alternatively you may, by arrangement pick up your item(s) from the warehouse.

Please note: Some of the items we sell are large and bulky, please make sure you have adequate access for delivery and there is enough free space available to place your furniture. Re-deliveries are chargeable.

Customers are of course welcome to arrange their own collection and delivery from our warehouse or we are happy to deliver to a port address.

Sorry but we are unable to accept returns once items have been collected from our warehouse or signed for at the designated port address.

Delivery Times (in stock items only)

Normally delivery will be within 14 days but can be longer if for example delivery slots are not convenient or to remote postcodes. *Scotland – see note below.

We use a specialist delivery firm who will take your order direct from the warehouse to your premises – this does mean the delivery can take longer than the courier type service but we believe, from many years of experience, this is the best and safest way to make deliveries.

*Scotland: these deliveries are done by a specialist local delivery firm. We will first deliver to this firm for onward delivery to you and as such deliveries can take longer.
