    Made to measure guide

Below are some of the most important things to consider before undertaking the process of making a bespoke piece of furniture:

    • First supply overall height, width, and depth – with any maximum or minimum sizes. For example: “the bookcase width must not exceed 120cm to fit alcove”.
    • Note any internal measurements which are critical. For example: “my TV needs to fit in this space”, this is obviously critical, and we will need the size of the TV.
    • Instructing the style of the item. This can be done by matching to a style of one of our standard items, supplying a picture, or if the item is totally unique a drawing would be required.

Although we will advise as much as possible, it is your responsibility to supply the correct measurements and other information. Please remember to consider staircases and doorways and check that the size of items can pass through access points. We can make items breakdown or in parts if necessary.
Our measurements are normally accurate but as they are handmade, some small variations can occur, so please advise if you have a critical dimension.
Please be aware that we cannot accept responsibility if furniture does not fit unless due to our own fault we have made it the incorrect size.

    Manufacture, Woods, Colours & Finishes

All items are handcrafted using traditional cabinet making techniques. Pieces are made as accurately as possible to sizes provided but maybe a few millimetres out; as this is not machine-made, mass-produced furniture.
All furniture is made from solid mahogany. Mahogany is an excellent wood to make furniture as it is close-grained and stable. Some say the best!
Each piece is hand polished. Does not apply to painted finishes. For a list of finishing options please visit our colour choices page.
On request, solid teak can be used – teak makes for excellent outdoor furniture. All of the mahogany and teak used is ethically grown and sourced.

    Timescale & Delivery

All bespoke items have a lead time of around 18 weeks on average but can take longer depending on the complexity. This timeframe is from the point the deposit is received and includes the manufacture and shipping time to the UK.
To avoid disappointment, we would suggest orders are made well in advance of any deadline or best not to have a deadline.
Delivery is normally included in the price but this will be advised along with your quote. We use a specialist delivery service which is a 2 man service to room of choice with the option of an assembly service. You are also welcome to collect in person from the warehouse but please advise prior to arrival to avoid the chance that we may not be available.

    Payment & General Terms

Once the quote is accepted, a deposit is required before drawings are done or production commences. This is normally 35% but can vary. Balance is due prior to final delivery to your home or collection. At any time prior to your approval of the drawing, you can make amendments or if you change your mind for any reason you can ask for a full refund of your deposit.
We guarantee our furniture and are very sure you will be happy with it. In the unlikely event you feel something is not right or you are for any reason unhappy, we operate a 14 day refund service. BUT please note that on some bespoke items this may be withdrawn depending on the nature of the problem or complexity of the bespoke request.
